reading Psalms in lent
This lent, starting on Feb 18th, we are reading the book of psalms together. you’re invited to join!
As a deer longs for a stream of cool water, so I long for you, O God. Psalm 42.1
Lent is a time of preparation and reflection in the six and a half weeks (40 days excluding Sundays) leading up to Easter. Lent has been marked by Christians over the generations through prayer, fasting, generosity or service and you can read more about the history of Lent in this article. This year Lent starts on Wednesday February 18th.
We’re joining with other Christians around the world to read the book of Psalms this Lent, following the Lent Encounter daily emails from The Bible Society.
There will be a daily Psalm to read or listen to, a podcast, a playlist and maybe some more creative explorations as we journey these weeks together.
If you don’t currently read the bible on your own but would like to, this might be an easy, accessible, encouraging way to give it a go.
whatsapp group
We also have a whatsapp group to check in each day, share what God has been saying and encourage each other as we read and pray through Lent.
Please be aware that if you join the group, everyone else in the group (people you may not have met if you attend different services at Pattern Church) will be able to see your phone number and messages.
40 acts
Maybe you’re in a routine of reading the Bible already, but would like to mark Lent in a practical way? 40 Acts, relaunched last year, includes a daily generosity challenge, resources for families, schools, small groups.
